Doing engagement sessions with couples is such a wonderful way to get to know them before the big wedding day. You really get to learn the bride and groom’s personalities and learn more about their love story. Since that’s the case, one could think that not having an engagement session with a couple could potentially make things a little awkward or impersonal between the couple and their photographers. That would be understandable, right? Well, this was absolutely not the case with Cal & Skylar! We met Cal & Skylar for the first time in person on the day of their wedding! We IMMEDIATELY felt so welcomed and comfortable with both of them. Skylar was in her room getting her make up done when we met her and Cal met us in the hallway with his groomsmen for a quick photo session. We instantly remarked that Skylar was so sweet, friendly and laidback, while Cal totally impressed us with his big personality, sense of humor and willingness to pose in any way we asked him to! We knew it would be a fun day!

Although heavy rain had been in the forecast, we lucked out with clouds, breezes and mild temperatures. It was a beautiful day in downtown Raleigh. All Saints Chapel was the perfect venue for Cal & Skylar’s intimate and personal ceremony. The chapel was warm, cozy and beautifully decorated. The “first look” is always a highly anticipated moment for the bride and groom. I can’t imagine a more beautiful first look than the one Cal & Skylar had. Tears flowed, hugs were given, Cal held Skylar and whispered in her ear and I think we all melted. It was immediately so clear how much they love each other. What a beautiful moment! 

When remembering Cal & Skylar’s wedding, the biggest thing we remembered is how they were surrounded by so much love and support. Their families were just precious. Everyone was so sweet and excited to be there. Their actual wedding ceremony made us smile from ear to ear and tear up. Both of their fathers spoke during the ceremony adding such special touches. The reception was full of special touches also from a lei ceremony, toasts, Cal doing an ambush cake smash into Skylar’s face and dancing! Throughout the entire day, we watched as everyone seemed to wear their hearts on their sleeves. Tears of joy fell, hugs were given, belly laughs were frequent and love was the guest of honor! It was an absolutely perfect day and Belle Weddings is so thankful to have been a part of it! We wish you many years of love and happiness Skylar and Cal!
